Realism tattoos are designed to recreate people, animals, objects and other subjects as accurately and naturally as possible. Artists use detailed shading, contrast, texture and careful proportions to create depth and a lifelike appearance. Realism can be done in either black & grey or full colour and usually works best at a larger size where enough space is available to preserve fine detail.
